A Good Year: 2023 in Review

I can honestly say that 2023 was a good year. Nothing Earth-shattering has happened. Looking back, I felt that it was the year where I have slowly regained my footing.

Another move

I moved to another condo in February. The old place, while more spacious, had problem with water seeping through the wall and basically ruining the inside of the room. This knew place has a balcony but no air-con. Below is the picture of what you see when you stand outside at the balcony.

Peace of mind for a good year

I finally stopped seeing the guy that I was on and off with last March 19. At first it was hard to forget him because we had great memories together. As time went by, I realized that I was not going to be his first choice, ever. We have no connection whatsoever because I blocked him from all social media and from texts and calls.

Buying land

I now have plot of land under my name (74 sqm). It’s not mine though, but ganoon pala yung feeling na may property na nakapangalan sa iyo. I think construction of the house would start in July 2024. If plans push through, I might also be staying there in 2025.

Money, money, money

I have paid off half of my debts, which is nice. My goal next year is to wipe them all off. I think it can be done. The good news is I also got some increase at work. It also helped that I don’t have an air-con, plus my electricity is currently metered. This helped me to become more conscious about my spending habits. All in all, this year was a good year in terms of my finances.

Health and family

The biggest concern for the family this year was my brother who was hospitalized twice in November. We thought it was because of the complication from his diabetes but it turned out that the had hydrocele.

As for me, I really need to have my lower right molar extracted.

A remarkable year for improv

This was a good year for applied improv. I tagged along with Toto of PlayMD.ph and I helped facilitate several improv workshops. Notable of which are the ones at the UP Institude of Biology (February), Pangasinan Provincial Government (April), and the recently held improv at Miscosoft Philippines GLEAM (December).

For 2023, I think the most important of all applied improv workshops is ImprovRx for the healthcare workers of the Philippine General Hospital.

Additionally, Bimpo Improv is back. We have plans to restart the group and have two shows by next year. So stay tuned for more announcements.

Looking forward to 2024

I just hope to continue with my hosting business and other social media projects. My job has taken some joy from me working on these. The good news is that one of my Facebook pages has organically reached 16K members.

As for my web hosting G Hosting PH (ghosting.ph), I will try to get more clients. I really would love if this takes off. I should also fix the logo and the website itself.

Regarding the 99 Yellow Cars podcast, I will try to get more episodes out. Unfortunately, I can’t find any great topic to discuss or interesting people to interview. I might also be reviewing my goals for it next year.

That’s it for 2023. I am looking forward to a better and brighter 2024.
